Description of the missing person
Ali was a young man, brother of 9 siblings (3 boys and 6 girls). He was still in Shhour’s public secondary school when he went missing. During his days off and vacations, Ali used to work in construction and help his family with their chores. He was a very energetic and motivated young man. Ali was very sociable and he used to love mingling with people from different ages. He was very helpful and was always there for whomever needed him, even with strangers on the street. What distinguished Ali from boys his age is that he was very trustworthy, and his teachers loved him. Ali loved to spend time with his friends next to the river where they would fish and he loved walking in the forest to hunt birds. He bonded with his family and siblings a lot and he loved to spend time with them. He used to help his sister Maryam with her work. . Ali loved a girl and he dreamt of marrying her he was saving up money from his work, and one day he took his sister to buy her a car but she advised him to save up his money to start building his own house. Ali was convinced with his sister’s advice and he was about to start building the house before going missing.
Circumstances of the Disappearance
On the night of August 21st, 1983, Ali went to Beirut to spend time with his friend Hassan Zein who insisted on them going. After visiting Rawshe, then Manara and then Downtown, Ali decided to visit the girl whom he had feelings for with his friend on Tuesday. That day, Ali left the girl’s house with his friend Hassan at 5 in the afternoon. Neither one of them ever returned home.
